ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Gaz Hughes.

After 17 years as a Nurse in the NHS, with 14 of those spent in the Emergency Department, I’ve needed to perform CPR many hundreds of times to give patients life-saving chest compressions.

I’ve seen first-hand how a patient’s chances of survival improve significantly with early CPR and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) in the minutes immediately after an accident or a medical emergency, until health professionals can take over.

My aim in founding Training Beat was to offer something different: to use my real-life Nursing experience to run accessible First Aid and Basic Life Support awareness and accredited training sessions at sensible prices for people in the Derby area and surrounding communities.

My sessions combine my knowledge and experience with a good dose of down-to-earth humour. People learn best when they are in a relaxed but upbeat environment. I’ve made my sessions comprehensive but memorable and enjoyable.

No one would choose to be present in an emergency situation, but if you know Basic Life Support, you could make a huge difference to someone’s survival chances.

I want to show as many people as possible how easy it can be to make that difference.

Have a read of my Training and Feedback pages, and get in touch if you would like to learn more about the bespoke First Aid and Basic Life Support sessions I offer, or head to my Upcoming Events page to see community sessions available,
